You should ideally plan several excursions to Vienna during your holiday in the Burgenland. The former imperial city and royal seat of Vienna impresses with its wide range of sights, events and museums.

Vienna is just a 45 minute drive away from Moerbisch. Travelling by bus takes approx. 90 minutes. Whichever you choose: Vienna is well worth a visit!

Excursions to Vienna: the historic centre of the Danube metropolis

You should ideally leave your car on the outskirts of town and explore the centre of Vienna by underground. This is the fastest and most comfortable way of reaching the sights of Vienna. Get off at the Stephansplatz stop and you will find yourself at the heart of this Danube capital. The escalator will take you up to ground level as the tower of St. Stephen’s Cathedral gradually appears before you. Visit the spiritual centre of Vienna and climb the tower of this striking Gothic structure: the views across Vienna are simply breath-taking!

Excursions to Vienna: cultural and historical sights

The following sights are not to be missed during your trip to Vienna:

Vienna Hofburg Palace with imperial residential and working areas
Imperial Spanish Riding School, watch the morning training of the Lipizzaner horses
Albertina museum with impressive works of art
Schoenbrunn Castle and a walk through the spacious castle park and zoo
